Indra Poddar, 67, passed away today morning. He joined Sri Aurobindo Ashram school as a young boy in the nineteen fifties and was one of the youth who poured soil from 126 countries of the world into an Urn at the central part of Auroville on its Foundation day in 1968. He has been living in Promesse community of Auroville with his family since early days and was involved in the work of purchasing lands for Auroville project in its early years. He was not keeping well for the past couple of months and was admitted into Jipmer Hospital a fortnight ago. His body is kept for last respects at the house, it is learnt from his family, where he grew up in Rue Martin in Puducherry that was given to his family by the Mother and blessed by her personally. His remains are to be cremated today.
